Nina Cossetto was born in Zagreb in 1975. After completing the Pavao Markovac primary and secondary school, she studied piano at the Academy of Music Zagreb, graduating in the class of Prof. Branko Sepčić.
Coming from a family of musicians, from an early age she sang in the choirs led by her father, Emil Cossetto. At the age of 13, she started providing accompaniment and later also performing as a choir soloist (soprano). Due to her love of singing and excellent piano skills, she was barely 17 when she passed the audition at the Croatian National Theater Opera in Zagreb and started working as an accompanist, learning the secrets of the trade from top Croatian conductors (Miro Belamarić, Nikša Bareza, Vjekoslav Šutej).
In 1996, she worked with the European Opera Troupe Operama and collaborated with leading soloists, including Gena Dimitrova, Bruna Baglioni, Renato Bruson and Paolo Gavanelli.
Since 2003, she has frequently served as an assistant conductor of the HRT Choir, and between 2010 and 2016 she was a choirmaster at the Zagreb National Theater. Playing in orchestras and conducting stage music in numerous operas is also an indispensable part of her daily music making.
Having worked for nearly thirty years at the HNK Opera in Zagreb with many soloists who built their careers after benefiting from her dedicated and specific teaching style, she became the Artistic Director of the opera role studies, which she regards as the pinnacle of her career.
